Do pancakes have feelings?

This pancake certainly does and it isn't very happy about being eaten.

Pictures from Dick's Outdoor Experience Day

I know I promised these a while ago. Here they are but I was taking them so there are no pictures of me in the kayaks. I did some kayaking at a Club Med on the ocean some years before children and the wading pool just didn't hold the same appeal to me(no, I'm not bitter about not getting a turn, really. Maybe...).

First and foremost, my lovely bride, Sharon:

Bethany, Mistress of the Kayak!

Stephen, Master of the Seven Seas!!

David, a Mighty Sailing Man:

And Joshua, so how many canoes fit into a kayak?

Christmas Cantata

We're starting work on the Christmas Cantata at church already. This time our pastor wants to do the play that goes with the music. Sharon and I have been cast as Mary's parents, Heli and Rachel. Right now we need a Mary and a Joseph and we can do the play. It will be fun to do a play again.

I've been asked to grow my beard out for the play. Yes, I'll post a picture.

The Wonderful world of Work

Well, we had some big changes at work as far as the department structure goes. Our Department Manager had actually been filling two roles Senior MIS Manager and MIS Manager. It was announced that the Business Analyst would be promoted to the MIS Manager position.

I'm happy with the change because I have a good working relationship with the new manager and he likes my work so things are looking up.

Tornado Sirens? What Tornado Sirens?!?

Interesting day yesterday on Saturday. We heard the sirens going off and we were thinking "It's not Noon Wednesday, why are they going off... Doh!" Grabbed the radio and got everyone into the basement. The storm causing the sirens to go off went just to the south of us and a tornado was confirmed to have touched down at Lane Ave. That's about 10 minutes or 5 to 6 miles south of us.

Yes it's been a while since posting. I've been working a lot at work and at home. I'll try to catch up later this week as I have more news about work that I can talk about.

Advanced stages of brain death, no really!

Class has been fun this week but I miss being with my family. I also missed my wedding anniversary and helping with the puppets at VBS. On top of being in class all day, I worked 4 hours each night for the first three days. And don't even get me started on the "wonderful" hotel bed.

Looking forward to getting home tomorrow night. My brain is fried.

Brain fried. Core dumped. (computer joke)

Yeehaa! All the scripts are done except for a bit of tweaking and editing. Working on sounds and music and I don't have much time. I'm leaving on Father's Day for Atlanta, GA for training. My managers want me to take a certain class as soon as possible and it's next week or the first week of October. Argh!

So I have to have everything ready for the puppets skits before I leave (costumes, props, sound effect and intro/ending music). And take care of some things at home as well.

On top of not having much of a Father's Day, I'm also missing being with my lovely bride on our 19th wedding anniversary.

We took the kids to Dick's Sporting Goods store where they had their Outdoor Experience fair set up. Hopefully I can get some pictures posted this weekend. They had a kayak pool so you can try out some of the kayaks and a shooting range setup to shoot airsoft and pellet guns. Bethany was disappointed that she didn't get to shoot but the age limit was 10 and up. The boys all shot very well with the pellet guns. Kept the shots in the 9 ring.

Wow, what a busy two weeks it's been. I've still a script and a half to go for the puppet shows. My sister has moved to Iowa and bought a house. My wife is not going to be teaching this next school year so she can take more classes per quarter to become an interpreter for the deaf.

I work at a Japanese company here in the Columbus, OH area and we're going to be having an interesting summer at work. We've got a major upgrade of our systems, both software and hardware, to do. On top of that there is a plant to convert over to our system and a new plant that should be coming up on the system by the end of the year. Plus the usual projects and support we normally do. There are also some interesting changes in the managment of the department coming up. One of which is the Senior Advisor to the MIS Department is being rotated back to Japan but there will not be a replacement coming in. My Senior Manager will be taking over the Senior Advisor's duties (mainly upper office politics). There are other changes coming but I am not at liberty to talk about those changes yet in a public forum. More on those as they happen.

Last week was the one year anniversary of my Father's death. I miss him greatly and do wish he were still here. There have been so many things happening through out the whole family this last year that we couldn't share with him directly. But we will see him again in time and I like to think that he is able to see what's happening in ours lives from heaven.

One Down and Two to Go!!

Got the first puppet script finished. It's King Saul talking to David before he goes out to fight Goliath titled "Who's the Shield-bearer" after the famous (infamous?) "Who's on First" skit by Abbott and Costello. It's done and Joshua and David can practice it so they don't laugh (too much) while they perform it a month from now.

The second one will be the actual fight between David and Goliath and the third script will be about David as the king befriending Jonathon's son, Mephibosheth.

My First Post

First!

Oh wait, that's for posting comments isn't it?

The main purpose of this blog is geared towards keeping things up to date for friends and family. It's very bare right now and I have some ideas for the design template but I don't have time for that right now.

I'm in the middle of the beginning of writing puppets scripts for Vacation Bible School at our church, Grace Baptist Church in Delaware, OH. It's hard coming up with something based on a particular theme for three nights to be entertaining and yet does teach a lesson. I have about 4 weeks to go and have half a script written. It's crunch time because I have to have them done in time for my puppeteers to practice.

Last year's VBS theme was Jonah and I ended up with three really good scripts. This year it is about David and the Heart of the King. The idea is to get the children to understand that God cares about what we are on the inside. Are our hearts after God as King David's?

Till next time.
